Cookie policy
Which cookies this site uses, why, and how to control them.
Last updated: October 3, 2026
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies Evan Kristine (evankristine.com) uses, why, and how you can control them. It works together with the privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help measure visits, show ads or remember your choices. Similar tools, like pixels, local storage and scripts from other companies, work in a similar way, so this page covers them too.
How consent works
When you first visit from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, a consent window asks what you agree to. Advertising and measurement cookies that need consent only load after you agree. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the consent tool’s settings.
Cookies this site uses
Strictly necessary
These keep the site working and secure, for example security and firewall checks, page caching, and remembering your consent choice. They don’t need consent because the site can’t run properly without them.
Analytics
Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit and Google Tag Manager) helps me understand which posts people read and how they find the site. The data is counted in aggregate and I don’t use it to identify you.
Advertising
This site earns money from display ads managed by Journey by Mediavine and its advertising partners, including Google. With your consent, they may use cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and, where allowed, personalize ads based on your interests. You can see and change the list of ad partners in the consent window.
Recommendations and saves
Grow by Mediavine powers features that let you save favorite posts and see recommended reads. It may set cookies or use local storage to remember your saves and to understand how these features are used.
Affiliate links and embedded content
When you click an affiliate link, for example to Amazon, the retailer may set its own cookies so the sale can be credited to this site. Some pages also load product images from Amazon or Pinterest buttons. Those services follow their own cookie and privacy policies.
How long cookies last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay for a set time, from a few minutes to around two years, depending on the service, unless you delete them first.
How to control or delete cookies
- Use the consent tool’s settings to change your choice on this site.
- Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
- Learn more about interest-based ads and opt out at youronlinechoices.eu.
Changes to this policy
I may update this page when the tools on the site change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
